Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) assigned Anthropic a BB+ credit rating in June 2026, placing the firm at the highest level of speculative-grade debt. The rating was issued alongside a $35 billion financing deal intended to support Broadcom's AI chip platform.
The financing package, led by Apollo Global Management with participation from BlackRock, includes $4.4 billion in subordinated debt. This tranche offers a yield of approximately 8.5%, while senior debt yields around 5.75%.
Anthropic plans to invest over $500 billion in infrastructure and data centers over the next decade. The company provided limited financial data to KBRA, leading the agency to use an internal scoring model instead of a full forecast.
Recent financial reports show Anthropic's revenue reached $11.5 billion in the second quarter and $16.8 billion in the third quarter of 2026, marking a 46% increase. The third quarter was also the company's second consecutive period of adjusted profitability.
Achieving an investment-grade rating remains a priority for the company to reduce future borrowing costs and attract institutional investors. Increased financial disclosure is expected to be a key factor in improving the firm's credit standing ahead of a potential IPO.
