Sachin Katti, the director of compute infrastructure at OpenAI, is set to leave the company next month. He joined the startup late last year after leading the AI division at Intel since 2021. Katti will transition into an advisory role following his departure.
During his tenure, Katti oversaw partnerships for computing infrastructure, including negotiations for the Stargate data center project. He also managed agreements with Amazon for AWS cloud capacity and secured a lease for a 10-GW data center from SB Energy, backed by Nvidia.
Uday Ruddaraju, who was promoted to technical director of the infrastructure division this summer, will replace Katti. He will report directly to OpenAI President Greg Brockman. The company plans to invest up to $750 billion in infrastructure by 2030.
