Cui Tianyi has been appointed as the head of the newly formed Product Department. Cui joined DeepSeek in March of this year after a nine-year tenure at Jane Street. He is a Zhejiang University computer science graduate and a six-time ACM Asia regional gold medalist.
The company also continues to develop its DeepSeek Harness framework, which was open-sourced in August 2026 under the MIT license. The framework is written in TypeScript and utilizes the Cordis plugin system to manage core agent capabilities.
In September 2026, DeepSeek released the v0.2 preview version of its desktop client for macOS and Windows. The platform is built on the 'Everything is a Plugin' philosophy, allowing for modular integration of models, tools, and UI components.
