OpenAI Chief Product Officer Tibo announced that the $200 ChatGPT Pro subscription will be available to new users starting tomorrow. The company previously suspended new registrations for this tier on September 11 due to high demand for the GPT-6 Astra model.
The updated subscription model features a revised usage calculation, effectively doubling the API value compared to the previous structure. OpenAI has removed the former 5-hour usage limit, replacing it with a weekly management system that allows users more flexibility in how they allocate their quotas.
OpenAI also reduced API pricing for GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna models by approximately 50% this week. The company stated its intention to continue lowering API costs as model efficiency improves, aiming to bridge the gap between subscription services and on-demand API usage.
Additionally, the company plans to introduce new features for Pro subscribers that will not count toward usage limits. While specific details on these additions remain undisclosed, the company aims to provide transparency regarding policy changes before the official rollout.
