OpenAI introduced the Sign in with ChatGPT feature during the 2026 Developer Day. This tool allows users to authenticate their identity on third-party websites and applications using their existing ChatGPT credentials, streamlining the login process across different platforms.
The functionality is now available globally to all verified ChatGPT users. When accessing participating services, users can select the Sign in with ChatGPT option to complete the authentication. The feature is currently live on the OpenAI Academy and the main ChatGPT website, with a rollout to additional partners underway.
OpenAI confirmed that external applications will only receive basic profile information, including the user's name, email address, and profile picture. The company explicitly stated that conversation history, memory, uploaded files, tokens, and billing information will not be shared with third-party services.
For enterprise users, the availability of this feature is managed by organizational administrators. By default, the function is enabled for organizations that have not set specific identity policies, though existing access control settings and restrictions remain fully effective.
