OpenAI released its latest image generation model, ChatGPT Images 2.5, on September 8. The model includes two variants: Sunburst, which focuses on high precision, and Flare, which is optimized for speed and offers up to 50% lower latency than previous versions.

Within hours of its launch, the Sunburst model secured the top position on the Arena platform across text-to-image, single-image edit, and multi-image edit leaderboards. As of September 9, it achieved an ELO score of approximately 1421, surpassing its predecessor, GPT-Image-2.

Arena is currently offering free access to the Sunburst model for 72 hours without requiring a credit card or a waitlist. The platform evaluates models through blind side-by-side comparisons where users vote on the quality of generated outputs.

Following the conclusion of the free trial, the API pricing for Sunburst will be set at $5 per million input tokens and $30 per million output image tokens. The new release focuses on improving lighting fidelity, prompt adherence, and subject preservation.
