OpenAI has introduced two new shopping features for ChatGPT, aiming to assist users with online retail tasks. The update includes a virtual try-on tool and a favorites function, both of which are now available globally to users of the AI assistant.
The virtual try-on feature allows users to upload a selfie or full-body photo to visualize how clothing or accessories appear on them. Users can trigger this by clicking a new try-on button in shopping results or by uploading a screenshot of a product they wish to test.
The new capabilities are powered by the ChatGPT Images 2.5 model. According to OpenAI, this model improves image generation by providing more natural lighting, richer textures, and faster latency, while also following editing instructions with higher reliability.
Additionally, the Favorites feature enables users to save discovered products into a library within the application. This allows for easier retrieval of items, which are stored alongside the generated try-on images for future reference.
