OpenAI has temporarily suspended new subscriptions for its ChatGPT Pro 20x plan. This tier provides users with 20 times the messaging capacity of the standard ChatGPT Plus subscription and includes priority access to advanced tools, such as the GPT-5 model.
The standard ChatGPT Plus plan, priced at $20 per month, remains fully operational and is not affected by the current registration freeze. OpenAI previously introduced a mid-tier subscription option in 2026, which costs $100 per month and offers five times the usage limits of the Plus plan.
The company has a history of pausing signups when user demand exceeds its infrastructure capacity. A similar measure was implemented following the 2023 DevDay event. Users have recently reported technical issues regarding billing synchronization and the resetting of usage limits.
