OpenAI unveiled a suite of workplace tools at its Dev Day developer conference in San Francisco. The new features include Space, a shared environment for team collaboration with the chatbot and AI agents known as Dots. These agents are designed to perform specific tasks on behalf of users, such as monitoring team channels and updating documents based on gathered information.

The company also introduced Pages, a word processor built for collaboration between humans and AI agents. This tool allows users to conduct research, generate charts, create images, and visualize data. Additionally, OpenAI launched a collaborative presentation tool that enables users to create slides through natural language commands within ChatGPT, supporting multi-user editing and commenting.

These developments mark a shift in OpenAI's strategy as it moves into the workplace software market, traditionally dominated by partners like Microsoft. While OpenAI expands its offerings, other industry players, including Microsoft and Salesforce, are simultaneously integrating AI features into their own software portfolios to adapt to the changing technological landscape.
