OpenAI is introducing a new display ad format for ChatGPT users in the US. These advertisements will appear on the loading screen during the image generation process. The company plans to begin testing this feature later this month with a select group of initial advertisers.

The platform is also enhancing its measurement and brand safety tools. Advertisers can now integrate conversion data via partners like Hightouch, Tealium, and LiveRamp, while attribution is handled by AppsFlyer, Adjust, and Branch. Additionally, OpenAI is collaborating with DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science to ensure brand safety without accessing user conversations.

Since February, OpenAI has been running ads in over 40 countries. The company reports an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion from its advertising business. OpenAI has set a long-term goal to reach $100 billion in ad revenue by 2030, supported by a weekly reach of 1.2 billion people.

To further refine ad performance, the company is conducting geo-based experiments through providers such as Haus, Measured, and WorkMagic. Advertisers also have the option to implement negative keywords to prevent their content from appearing in contexts deemed unsuitable for their brands.
