OpenAI is seeking to raise approximately $30 billion before its planned initial public offering in the first half of 2027. The company has adjusted its valuation expectations downward to $1.25 trillion, compared to an earlier target of $1.4 trillion.

Investor interest has cooled, with reports indicating lower demand compared to previous funding rounds. Morgan Stanley and Dragoneer previously attempted to secure capital based on a $1.4 trillion valuation, but encountered limited enthusiasm from clients.

The company's previous funding rounds saw significant capital inflows, including $40 billion in March 2025 and $122 billion a year later. The previous round valued the startup at $852 billion.

Potential participants in the current round include the investment group Coatue and funds from the UAE. Negotiations with the latter could provide OpenAI with priority access to computing power developed in the UAE. Investors have until October 30 to decide on their participation.
