Asian markets experienced a notable decline in AI-focused equities as investors reallocated capital toward safer instruments. The MSCI Asia-Pacific index fell by 0.4%, while the South Korean Kospi index dropped by 0.8%. These movements were driven by growing concerns regarding AI infrastructure expenditures and broader economic instability.
The trend toward conservative assets impacted U.S. Treasuries, where the 10-year yield decreased by 17 basis points to approximately 4.96%. Market participants are now reassessing the valuation of Anthropic, specifically regarding previous forecasts that the company could reach a valuation of $600 billion by the end of the year.
Current market data indicates only a 3% probability for Anthropic hitting the $600 billion valuation target by December 31. The widespread sell-off in the AI sector has exerted downward pressure on these projections, signaling a reduced expectation for the company to achieve such a high valuation within the specified timeframe.
