According to Counterpoint Research, the transition of Apple MacBook Pro laptops to OLED screens will significantly impact the Mini LED market. Annual shipments of Mini LED laptop panels are projected to drop by approximately 75% between 2025 and 2027.
The decline is expected to be sharp, with shipments of laptops featuring Mini LED panels falling by 38% in 2026 and by a further 60% in 2027. By the end of this period, shipment volumes will reach only one-quarter of the 2025 levels.
Conversely, the market for OLED laptop panels is set to expand. Counterpoint forecasts a 50% growth in shipments this year and a 24% increase next year, resulting in a cumulative growth of 86% compared to 2025. Key drivers include demand for OLED MacBook Pro models and high-end AI PCs.
The shift is fueled by the technical advantages of OLED panels, such as thinner profiles and improved image quality. Increasing cost competitiveness, the adoption of tandem OLED designs, and the expansion of large-scale production facilities are expected to further accelerate this market transition.
