At the Oktane event, Okta Inc. highlighted the need for unified governance as AI agents operate across multiple systems. The company introduced the Agent Gateway to enable inline decision-making and authorization for agent actions, marking a shift in its security approach.
Okta is collaborating with industry partners to secure the agentic stack. The Blueprint Alliance aims to establish a reference architecture for consistent protection, while partnerships with 1Password and ServiceNow focus on shared identity standards and session tokens to manage agent permissions.
Internal implementations like Okta’s Dex demonstrate how specialized sub-agents can handle specific tasks securely. Meanwhile, organizations such as the PGA of America and Vanderbilt University are integrating Okta’s identity solutions to streamline infrastructure and apply existing governance to AI agents.
