The GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card has seen a significant price increase in the United States over the past week, reaching the MSRP of the RTX 5090. While some retailers like Micro Center offer units for $1800–1900, these are limited to in-store pickup. Most other retailers now list the card for at least $2000, with premium versions approaching $2500.
A similar pricing trend is observed in the European market, where prices have shifted to the same numerical values in euros. Despite the RTX 5080 having an official MSRP of $1000, current market conditions have pushed its cost to double that figure. Meanwhile, the RTX 5090 has been largely unavailable at retail for several weeks, though some listings appear at prices between $5500 and $6000.
Nvidia has not adjusted its official MSRPs despite the market disparity. The current price levels for the RTX 5080 are now comparable to the pricing of lower-tier models like the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, which are also trending toward the $1000 mark. Nvidia has denied reports regarding the cessation of RTX 5090 production, though the supply situation remains unclear.
