The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, which launched in early 2025 with an MSRP of $999, is now retailing for nearly $2,000 at major U.S. outlets. This price surge represents a doubling of the original recommended retail price within a short timeframe.

Retailers including Best Buy, Micro Center, Amazon, Newegg, and B&H currently list the GPU at this elevated price point. Listings that previously appeared at $1,200 just two months ago have seen a rapid increase to the current levels.

The price hike is attributed to supply chain constraints and a shortage of 16 GB GDDR7 memory modules. While add-in card partners initially introduced custom PCBs and enhanced cooling solutions that raised costs, the recent scarcity of memory components has further intensified the pricing pressure.

Market data indicates that lower-priced options are largely unavailable, with older, cheaper listings on platforms like B&H marked as temporarily out of stock. Only units currently available for purchase reflect the new, higher pricing structure across the retail sector.
