NVIDIA has submitted a patent application for an AI-powered tool designed to assist developers in identifying and resolving GPU performance bottlenecks. The system utilizes a large language model to interpret natural language queries from developers and interact directly with GPU profiling software.

The proposed architecture features a routing mechanism that directs inquiries to specialized agents, depending on whether the request is general or report-specific. Once a query is received, the agent generates and executes custom scripts to extract telemetry data, analyze performance metrics, and suggest potential optimizations.

While the technology is framed as a broad optimization tool, it could address specific issues such as frame drops or stuttering in PC titles. The patent, published on September 17, suggests a developer-focused counterpart to the existing Project G-Assist assistant currently used for tuning GeForce RTX systems.

Industry competitors are exploring similar automated diagnostic solutions. Sony has recently patented a cloud-based AI system intended to identify hardware issues and automatically generate firmware fixes for PlayStation devices. These filings indicate a broader trend toward using AI to reduce manual diagnostic efforts.
