Authorities in California are investigating the theft of six pallets of Nvidia GPUs. The stolen hardware is valued at approximately $11.4 million. The incident occurred when a truck, disguised as a food transport vehicle, disappeared with the cargo.

Experts note that advanced computing chips can fetch double their US market price on the black market. The theft has prompted discussions regarding the security of high-value technology shipments and potential national security risks associated with the illicit trade of such hardware.

A similar incident occurred in September at Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil. Two pallets of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, worth about $470 000, went missing after clearing customs. Brazilian police identified three airport employees as suspects in the case.

Evidence from the Brazilian investigation suggests an inside job involving forklift operators and an employee responsible for electronic controls. One of the stolen Zotac RTX 5090 cards was briefly listed on the OLX marketplace for over $6 000 before being removed.
