Nvidia is currently in negotiations with Apollo Global Management, the parent company of telecommunications provider Brightspeed, regarding the repurposing of its facilities. The initiative aims to transform existing buildings into small-scale data centers across the United States.

Apollo Global Management controls approximately 130 sites throughout the country. Many of these locations were originally designed in a way that allows for conversion into data centers without requiring significant additional capital investment.

Nvidia estimates that these combined sites could potentially provide approximately 1 GW of computing power. This capacity would be sufficient to house more than 2,200 Supermicro Vera Rubin NVL72 server racks.

The project is expected to reduce infrastructure costs and accelerate the regulatory approval process for new facilities. However, these sites will remain relatively small and are not intended to replace traditional large-scale data centers.
