Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is encouraging nations to develop sovereign AI infrastructure to maintain control over their data, models, and computing power. The company plans to provide funding to countries aiming to build domestic AI capabilities, positioning itself as a strategic partner rather than just a hardware supplier.
On October 15, 2026, Huang pledged $2 billion to support the European AI ecosystem. Additionally, the company committed $250 million over five years to provide UK computing resources for research into AI safety and governance at institutions such as Oxford and UCL.
Nvidia has already deployed large quantities of GPUs in South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. South Korea is expected to receive up to 260 000 Nvidia GPUs by late 2025. The company has indicated it may withhold chips from developers that fail to meet safety standards.
Analysts estimate that sovereign AI initiatives could account for approximately 14% of Nvidia’s business, with long-term annual revenue potential reaching $50 billion. This shift toward government-led demand introduces new dynamics compared to traditional corporate capital expenditure cycles.
