Nvidia's board of directors approved an additional $80 billion for share repurchases on May 18, 2026. This decision brings the company's total buyback capacity to approximately $118.5 billion, as it combines the new authorization with the remaining $38.5 billion from previous programs.
The company reported record quarterly revenue of $81.6 billion for the first fiscal quarter of 2027, ending April 26, 2026, marking an 85% year-over-year increase. Revenue from the Data Center segment grew by 92% to $75.2 billion, representing the majority of total sales.
Free cash flow for the quarter reached $48.6 billion. Nvidia returned approximately $20 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks, with management planning to distribute about 50% of annual free cash flow to investors. During the second fiscal quarter of 2027, the company deployed $19.7 billion for buybacks.
The quarterly dividend per share increased from $0.01 to $0.25. This payment was scheduled for June 26, 2026, for shareholders of record as of June 4, 2026. While the buyback program is among the largest in corporate history, it fell below some analyst expectations of $150 billion.
