Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed the topic of AI safety during a company meeting in Berlin on October 22. He dismissed claims that artificial intelligence poses an existential threat to humanity, labeling such narratives as sensationalist fabrications designed to generate headlines.
Huang reiterated his stance from a September interview with The New York Times, where he argued that current public and industry anxiety regarding AI is excessive. He suggested that AI is more likely to automate specific tasks rather than replace entire professions.
The CEO specifically criticized predictions from experts who suggest a 10 percent probability of AI destroying humanity within a decade. Huang stated that these forecasts lack scientific evidence or research support and are ultimately harmful.
Huang advocates for a responsible and optimistic approach to the development of artificial intelligence. He believes that now is the optimal time to build AI systems, particularly for those focused on sustainable development and the future of human progress.
