During a Goldman Sachs conference held on September 10, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang identified cybersecurity as the next major application for artificial intelligence. He described the field as a natural extension of programming, noting that AI can be utilized by enterprises to continuously identify vulnerabilities and defend against potential attacks.
Huang addressed concerns regarding AI-related security risks, specifically those following jailbreak incidents involving models from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. He dismissed the prevailing AI panic, suggesting that cybersecurity vendors have a strong incentive to exaggerate threats to drive demand.
The CEO emphasized that fear serves as a powerful purchasing motivator in the market. By convincing businesses that they are at immediate risk of a breach, vendors can encourage companies to pay for security products and accept higher premiums, effectively creating a cycle of demand through alarmism.
