Nscale, a UK-based AI data center startup, has appointed Fidji Simo to its board of directors. Simo previously served as the CEO of AGI Deployment at OpenAI, where she was considered the second-highest ranking executive. She also held the positions of chair and CEO at Instacart, leading the company through its 2023 IPO, and spent over a decade at Meta.
The appointment comes as Nscale prepares for a potential IPO scheduled for this fall. Simo joins a board that already includes prominent figures such as Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker, and Nick Clegg. She currently maintains a part-time advisory role at OpenAI and holds a seat on the board of Shopify.
Founded two years ago, Nscale focuses on designing, building, and operating AI data centers. The company has experienced rapid growth driven by the increasing demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Reports indicate that the startup is seeking to raise up to $3,5 billion in funding prior to its public market debut.
