Nissan has introduced the Rogue Hybrid to the US market, marking the debut of its e-POWER technology in the country. The system uses a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine solely to power a generator that charges a 1.67 kWh battery, with no mechanical connection between the engine and the wheels.
The vehicle features dual electric motors providing a total output of 225 horsepower. The front motor delivers 202 hp and 242 lb-ft of torque, while the rear motor provides 134 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque. The system includes the Smooth Stop feature for brake modulation and e-Pedal for regenerative braking.
According to Nissan, the engine achieves 42 percent efficiency. Internal testing estimates fuel economy at 40 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 38 mpg combined. Official EPA ratings have not yet been released for the new model.
Nissan reports that it has sold more than 4 million vehicles equipped with e-POWER technology across more than 68 countries. The 2027 Rogue Hybrid is scheduled to go on sale this fall, starting with the SR trim with Tech Package, while other versions will follow in early 2027.
