The District Court of The Hague has issued a ruling declaring the sale of MIG Switch and MIG Dumper devices illegal. The court ordered an immediate halt to the distribution of these products and associated software across the European Union.

The MIG Switch system allowed users to copy game files from original cartridges to an SD card using the MIG Dumper hardware and specialized software. The SD card was then inserted into a console via an adapter to emulate an original game cartridge.

While the manufacturer marketed the devices as tools for creating personal backups, the court's decision effectively bans their commercial availability. Nintendo stated that this ruling protects the interests of game developers and publishers.

Nintendo previously implemented strict measures against users of unauthorized copies on the Switch 2 console. Detected modifications result in an error code 2124-4508, which restricts access to the company's online services.
