Apollo Research has introduced Watcher AI, a system designed to monitor autonomous agents for malicious activities. The tool tracks actions such as unauthorized data deletion or theft. If suspicious behavior is detected, the system escalates the task to a more powerful model for analysis, ultimately requiring human approval for the agent's proposed actions.

Goodfire is focusing on interpreting the internal states of models during operation rather than just evaluating final outputs. Following a security incident at Hugging Face, the company is expanding its efforts in cybersecurity and bioengineering. However, some developers are intentionally obscuring reasoning summaries to prevent distillation attacks, where models are trained on the outputs of other systems.

Beyond specialized AI-based monitoring, organizations are also utilizing traditional cybersecurity methods. Detailed logs and audit trails of agent activities allow security teams to analyze behavior using established tools without the need for an additional layer of autonomous oversight.
