Modder cranebeaker has released an AI-powered tool called Co-op Anything designed to automate the reverse engineering of single-player PC games to add cooperative functionality. The tool utilizes various AI agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, and OpenCode, to perform the necessary code modifications.

To use the tool, players must select a game and provide the AI agent with a link to the developer's GitHub repository. The software then attempts to either refine existing cooperative mods or, if none are available, perform a full decompilation of the game to build a multiplayer mode from scratch.

The developer notes that the implementation process varies significantly based on the title. While some games may be processed quickly, creating a cooperative mode from scratch can take weeks or even months. The tool supports both local and online cooperative play, along with Steam integration.

The project has already been successfully applied to several titles, including Deus Ex, Fallout: New Vegas, Dungeon Keeper, and the unofficial port of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Users are required to own the original game and possess an AI coding agent to utilize the tool.
