Developer perseval_BLR has released a new application called NeuralScreen, which allows users to apply Nvidia DLSS 5 neural rendering technology to the entire Windows 11 desktop environment. The tool extends the capabilities of the AI graphics technology beyond its original gaming scope.

Nvidia officially introduced DLSS 5 at the GTC conference in March 2026, with its debut in the game NBA 2K27 in September 2026. Unlike previous versions focused on frame rates, DLSS 5 utilizes real-time neural rendering models to enhance lighting, textures, and skin details using generative AI.

The NeuralScreen utility is designed to process video content, images, and windowed game sessions within the operating system. While standard desktop wallpapers and text elements show minimal changes, the tool provides noticeable improvements in visual quality for media playback and graphical applications.

Users can customize the experience through the application interface, which includes options to switch between different DLSS 5 models and adjust intensity via sliders. The software also features a comparison slider to evaluate the visual differences before and after applying the neural rendering effects.
