Beijing-based startup NeodraDynamics presented its Neo1 humanoid robot at the 2026 China International Industry Fair. The machine stands 4 meters tall and weighs approximately 1.2 tons. It features 41 joints powered by hydraulic actuators, allowing the robot to lift a combined weight of 500 kilograms.
The company intends to deploy Neo1 for heavy industrial tasks, including port operations, mining, and disaster rescue. Future applications may also include nuclear and deep-sea maintenance. This approach contrasts with Tesla's strategy, which focuses on human-sized robots designed for factory and household environments.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented on the development, stating that his Optimus robot will eventually build an Optimus Prime. While Musk continues to promote his robotics and hardware projects, market analysts and investors remain divided on the potential success of humanoid robotics, with some predicting failure within a decade.
