Elon Musk, who recently spent four months working within the US government, stated that artificial intelligence and robotics are the only viable solutions to address the national debt. He emphasized that relying solely on government efforts to eliminate the deficit is insufficient.

In an interview with biographer Walter Isaacson, Musk noted that reducing government spending creates political friction. He suggested that President Trump faces challenges in cutting funding due to the desire to maintain public approval, which complicates efforts to curb wasteful expenditures.

Musk expressed regret over the duration of his government tenure, noting that he should have returned to his companies sooner to focus on AI development. He spent four months leading the Department of Government Efficiency, a role he now believes should have been limited to one or two months.
