The NearLink Alliance has released the SLE 3.0 Technical Standard Evolution White Paper. The document was developed by over 60 organizations, including Huawei and HiSilicon, and outlines the roadmap for short-range wireless communication technology.

The evolution of the NearLink standard is divided into three phases. The SLE 1.0 phase (2020–2022) established the initial architecture. The SLE 2.0 phase (2023–2025) introduced narrowband high-precision positioning and application profiles for audio and digital keys.

The upcoming SLE 3.0 phase, scheduled for 2026–2027, focuses on enhancing access layer technology. Key development areas include high-speed reliable communication, efficient measurement, high-quality networking, and high-fidelity audio.

In smart home applications, the standard aims to build Mesh networks with reduced latency and improved communication quality. For entertainment, it introduces lossless audio encoding that dynamically adjusts based on signal quality.

The smart mobility sector will see expanded integration between vehicles and mobile devices. This includes contact synchronization, call management, and the ability to manage IoT devices like charging piles, parking locks, and external speakers.
