NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 24. The ceremony took place at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa during the NASA Inspiration Tour.
The agreement aims to expand collaboration in Earth observation, geospatial analytics, and advanced data technologies. These efforts are designed to support the data modernization plan of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The partnership focuses on integrating Earth observation data with agricultural applications. The agencies plan to explore new methods for managing large datasets, remote sensing, and super intelligence to improve crop monitoring and yield estimation.
By combining NASA’s technical expertise with USDA’s agricultural knowledge, the agencies intend to provide farmers and policymakers with more reliable information. The initiative also covers assessments of natural hazards and drought conditions.
