MTS analyzed fraudulent call activity in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) during the summer of 2026. The company's 'Zashchitnik' service identified and blocked over 7 million malicious calls during this period. Despite the high volume, the total number of scam calls in the region decreased by 10% year-over-year.

Data shows that scammers most frequently posed as telecommunications operators, accounting for 14% of calls, followed by marketplace representatives at 8%. Other common tactics included impersonating utility services at 7% and social organizations or funds at 6%.

August 2026 was the peak month for fraudulent activity, representing 45% of all recorded scam calls in the region. Experts note that attackers intensified their efforts toward the end of the summer, aligning with the start of the academic year and the return of families to their regular routines.

To address these threats, MTS continues to refine its AI-driven tools designed to detect and block spam. Additionally, the company has launched a free online course titled 'Cybersecurity: A Guide Against Scammers' to help residents of Yakutia improve their digital literacy and recognize deceptive tactics.
