The open-source media player MPC-HC has been updated to version 2.8.3. The release introduces a new interface design inspired by Windows 11, including modern themes and native rounded corner menus for users of the latest Microsoft operating system.
Users can activate the new interface by navigating to Options, then Advanced, and selecting ModernThemeStyle. This visual update is available for both Windows 11 and Windows 10 systems, allowing for a consistent look across different versions of the OS.
The update also includes technical improvements to the software components. MPC Video Renderer has been upgraded to version 0.10.8.2600, and the MediaInfo DLL is now at version 26.10. Additionally, the developers have refined the CUE file parsing process.
Version 2.8.3 adds HLG tone mapping support for EVR-CP and EVR-Sync renderers. This feature allows the player to convert high dynamic range video content, typically used in television broadcasting, to match the display capabilities of the user's current hardware.
