Moov has launched a new peer-to-peer payment service, Moov Money, developed in partnership with Visa and Mastercard. The solution allows users to send and receive funds through their digital banking providers using only an eligible debit card and a mobile connection. The service aims to eliminate the need for both parties to use the same application.

The company leverages data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, which indicates that 90.5% of American consumers possess a debit card. Moov intends to use this reach to facilitate payments directly to accounts linked to Visa or Mastercard debit cards, bypassing the requirement for recipients to register for new accounts or download specific apps.

CEO Wade Arnold stated that the platform integrates Moov’s payment infrastructure and fraud controls with the existing networks of Visa and Mastercard. This setup is designed to enable financial institutions of various sizes to offer simplified money transfer experiences to their customers.

Recent research from PYMNTS Intelligence highlights the growing role of debit cards for Generation Z consumers. Data shows that 70% of Gen Z respondents planned to use debit for holiday shopping, while 42% utilized it for grocery purchases. These findings suggest that debit cards are becoming a primary tool for financial management among younger demographics.
