Montage Technology has officially launched mass production of the CK01P client clock driver chip. This component is designed to be mounted directly on memory modules to generate, amplify, and clean clock signals, ensuring signal integrity for high-speed data transmission.
The new chip adheres to the JEDEC DDR5CKD01 specification and supports data rates up to 9200 MT/s. This represents a significant performance increase over the company's previous M88DR5CK01 model, which was limited to 7200 MT/s.
The CK01P is compatible with various memory form factors, including CUDIMM, CSODIMM, CQDIMM, and CAMM. By processing signals locally on the module, the chip mitigates issues like impedance, jitter, and capacitive loading that arise at high frequencies.
The component features three distinct operating modes: single PLL, dual PLL, and PLL bypass. It also utilizes a zero-phase delay architecture, allowing for programmable channel delays and signal parameter adjustments to match specific module topologies.
Montage Technology notes that while the CK01P is essential for reaching 9200 MT/s, overall system stability also depends on the processor's integrated memory controller, motherboard layout, and the quality of the DRAM chips and DIMM boards used.
