Mistral has introduced its most advanced AI model to date, internally referred to as le Chonk. The new Mistral Large 4 features one trillion parameters and is designed to handle complex tasks, including coding, agentic workflows, and multimodal data processing.
The company claims the model outperforms all existing open-weight alternatives developed in the United States and Europe. According to Mistral, the system shows state-of-the-art results in enterprise sectors such as cybersecurity, finance, and law, while exceeding some closed models in visual grounding.
The model is currently available in preview for developers, with a full release scheduled for later this month. Access will be provided through the company's official API. Mistral continues to position itself as a key European rival to major US labs like OpenAI and Anthropic.
This announcement follows a significant financial milestone for the French firm. In September, Mistral secured $3,4 billion in a Series D funding round, which brought the company's total valuation to approximately $24 billion.
