Paris-based Mistral AI has secured $3,5 billion in a Series D funding round, pushing its total valuation to over $24 billion. The round was led by Samsung Electronics, with additional backing from Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity.

This latest investment follows a $2 billion Series C round held one year ago, which valued the startup at $13,7 billion. Since its founding in 2023, the company has raised a total of $7,5 billion in capital.

The company plans to use the new funds to expand its research capabilities, improve infrastructure, and accelerate commercial growth. Mistral AI currently operates in 20 countries and serves more than 125 enterprise clients, including Airbus, ASML, BMW, and HSBC.

Mistral AI remains the highest-valued foundation model developer in Europe. It competes with major U.S. firms like OpenAI and Google by providing models that businesses can customize and deploy on their own internal systems.
