MINI continues to prioritize its signature circular center display, a design element rooted in the brand's history. Alexander Brockhoff, General Manager of MINI Australia, confirmed that the company intends to maintain this unique aesthetic as a core part of its identity, despite the shift toward digital interfaces.
The current generation of MINI vehicles features a 9.4-inch OLED circular display, which debuted in the all-electric Cooper in mid-2023. This screen now serves as the primary hub for vehicle information, replacing most physical climate control buttons while retaining a dedicated volume knob.
While third-party systems like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are limited to rectangular windows on the circular screen, MINI encourages the use of its proprietary software. The company claims that its native navigation system is optimized to utilize the full circular display area for a better user experience.
To complement the central screen, new MINI models include a head-up display for essential driving data. The brand views these digital advancements as a way to bridge its traditional design heritage with modern technology, aiming for better functional integration in future iterations.
