Microsoft has released the Windows 11 26H2 update, which introduces several functional refinements. The File Explorer now includes summarization capabilities, support for additional archive formats, and AI-driven productivity tools. Furthermore, Windows Search has been optimized to prioritize local file results, improve typo handling, and process partial application names more accurately, while frequently accessed folders now benefit from automatic indexing.

The update also brings accessibility and interface enhancements. Magnifier features new zoom and screen tint settings, Narrator includes a Braille Viewer, and Voice commands have been expanded for Copilot+ PCs. Users can now utilize new customization options for the Start menu and Taskbar, including adjustable positioning and a compact view mode.

The primary focus of this release is the adjustment of support cycles. Starting September 29, 2026, Enterprise and Education editions of Windows 11 version 26H2 will receive 36 months of servicing support. Home and Pro editions will be provided with 24 months of support, marking a shift in the company's maintenance strategy for the operating system.
