Microsoft has released new preview builds for Windows 11 users in the Beta and Experimental channels. The Experimental channel received builds 26340.9596, 28120.3151, and 29680.1000. These updates introduce support for Unicode 17.0, which includes 4,803 new characters and four new scripts: Beria Erfe, Sidetic, Tai Yo, and Tolong Siki.
The update also improves the performance of the Settings homepage, reducing load times in specific scenarios. Additionally, Microsoft added a Cloud Rebuild entry under Settings, System, and Recovery, allowing users to restore their local environment using cloud resources. This change is intended to improve accessibility and efficiency for system recovery tasks.
Looking ahead, Microsoft scheduled a Windows and Surface event for October 7 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. The event will focus on local AI integration in PCs. Speakers include CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Windows and Surface lead Pavan Davuluri. Industry expectations point toward the Surface Laptop Ultra and the NVIDIA RTX Spark platform.
