Microsoft is reducing the presence of its Copilot AI within the Windows 11 File Explorer. The company is removing eight specific AI-driven actions that previously appeared in the context menu when interacting with OneDrive files.
The retired features include tools for summarizing documents, creating FAQs, comparing files, asking questions about content, and various image analysis tasks such as explaining or comparing images and extracting text. Microsoft stated that these specific menu items are being removed to simplify the interface.
Despite these changes, users retain access to Copilot capabilities through alternative methods. These include the Ask Copilot option in the right-click menu, the dedicated icon on the File Explorer Home screen, and the OneDrive activity center.
