Nvidia has released the 621.01 GPU driver, which introduces support for Microsoft’s Advanced Shader Delivery technology. This system aims to accelerate game launch times and improve overall performance by offloading shader compilation to the cloud.
The technology utilizes DirectX 12, Windows 11, and the Microsoft Agility SDK to precompile shaders for a vast range of hardware and driver configurations. This process eliminates the need for just-in-time shader compilation during gameplay, effectively reducing CPU spikes and frame stuttering.
Current support for the feature includes titles such as Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. While these games must be downloaded via the Xbox PC app, the system remains storefront-agnostic, meaning it functions for games purchased on platforms like Steam, provided the Xbox PC app is installed.
Beyond Nvidia hardware, Advanced Shader Delivery is compatible with AMD GPUs using Adrenalin driver version 26.6.1 or higher. Additionally, the technology is supported on Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 series processors with driver version 2026.08.3 or higher.
