Microsoft has issued a reminder to users of the Office LTSC 2021 productivity suite. The company will officially end support for this version on October 13, 2026. The upcoming deadline marks the conclusion of the product's lifecycle, affecting 10 individual software components within the suite.
Following the end of support, Microsoft will cease providing official security patches and technical fixes for newly discovered vulnerabilities. While the software will remain functional for offline deployments or environments where cloud-based solutions are not feasible, it will no longer receive updates or security guarantees.
For small organizations with up to 300 seats, the company recommends transitioning to Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Business Standard, or Apps for Business. Larger enterprises are advised to consider Microsoft 365 E3, Office 365 E3, or Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise.
Users who require a non-cloud alternative are encouraged to migrate to Office 2024. However, this transition requires the purchase of a new software license, as the support lifecycle for the 2021 edition officially expires in 28 days from the time of the announcement.
