Microsoft has released the optional September update KB5124010 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Following the installation, the system build numbers are updated to 26100.9550 and 26200.9550 respectively. The update focuses on stability improvements, bug fixes, and functional adjustments across the operating system.
Key interface changes include the ability for File Explorer to remember the expanded or collapsed state of sections and a redesigned details pane for cloud files. The update introduces full support for Emoji 17.0, including new icons like a distorted face and dust effects. Additionally, users can now configure applications to launch in maximized mode by default via the accessibility settings.
The update brings significant improvements to Bluetooth and audio management, fixing stability issues in the settings menu and enhancing compatibility with classic and LE Audio devices. Users can now remap the Copilot key to the right Ctrl or context menu key. Furthermore, the update adds OneDrive photo backup configurations directly within the system settings.
New network capabilities allow WinRE to automatically reuse saved Wi-Fi profiles, including those requiring certificate authentication. Microsoft has also updated the Ebrima font to support Garay and Beria Erfe scripts. Notably, the company has removed the direct PC-to-PC data migration feature, advising users to utilize the Windows Backup application instead.
Microsoft has reiterated the support lifecycle for Windows 11 24H2. Home and Pro editions will reach the end of support on October 13, 2026, while Enterprise and Education editions will remain supported until October 12, 2027.
