Microsoft has introduced a revamped search experience in the Windows 11 Build 26340.9616 preview. The update features a more compact interface with smoother animations, while the taskbar search box now displays three animated dots when active.
The core improvement is the inline actions feature, which allows users to execute system-level commands directly from the search bar. Supported tasks include toggling dark mode, adjusting screen brightness, managing Bluetooth, and window arrangement.
Testing confirms that these operations are processed locally rather than via the cloud. The system does not show increased GPU usage during these tasks, and the search functionality remains fully operational while the device is offline.
The search tool interprets natural language inputs to trigger settings. For instance, commands like 'make everything dark' successfully activate dark mode. If a query is unrelated to system settings, the search tool does not return results.
