Microsoft is consolidating its Copilot offerings into a unified platform to compete with AI tools from Anthropic and OpenAI. The updated service integrates Chat and Cowork features into a new Home interface, embeds Office functionality directly into Copilot, and includes specialized tools for coding and enterprise automation.

A key addition is Autopilot, formerly known as Scout, which functions as a proactive personal agent for enterprise tasks. The platform will also feature an intelligent routing system that automatically directs user requests to the appropriate capability, such as Chat, Cowork, or Code, without requiring manual mode selection.

The company plans to begin rolling out the Home and Code features through its Frontier program in the coming weeks. The Autopilot agent is scheduled to enter private preview by the end of September. These updates also introduce a proactive Today experience within Microsoft Teams to surface key information.

CEO Satya Nadella stated that the company is positioning Copilot as an operating system for work that supports various models and tasks. This strategy marks a shift toward prioritizing corporate users and bundling productivity functions, moving away from the consumer-focused personal chatbot market.
