Meta plans to introduce a new class of non-voting shares to support its ongoing artificial intelligence initiatives. The company intends to utilize these shares for potential acquisitions and employee compensation packages, with trading scheduled to commence in 2027.
The financial strategy aims to provide flexibility for infrastructure expansion and strategic investments. Chief Financial Officer Susan Li noted that the move is designed to sustain the momentum generated by AI across all business segments.
Meta has increased its capital expenditure forecast for the current year to a range between $135 billion and $145 billion. This is an upward adjustment from the previous estimate of $130 billion to $145 billion.
In September, the company launched its AI agent, Muse, which reached 10 million downloads in the US this week. Additionally, Meta introduced the Muse Wonder model, although the company recently paused the agent's conversation-sharing feature following privacy concerns.
