Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined a strategy centered on Muse, a personal AI agent platform launched last month in the US and Canada. The company aims to build a large-scale network where autonomous agents interact and conduct transactions on behalf of users. Zuckerberg expects Muse to eventually generate more revenue per user than Facebook and Instagram.
The platform has reached over 10 million downloads to date, with 25% of users engaging with it daily. According to Meta, 25% of users utilize the platform for shopping, with an average transaction value exceeding $200. Meta collects a fee for every commercial transaction processed through the service.
Meta faces significant financial pressure, with planned capital expenditures for 2026 reaching between $135 billion and $145 billion, doubling the previous year's spending. Additionally, the company owes $25 billion to the state of New Mexico following a verdict regarding consumer protection laws.
Global expansion of Muse is currently restricted by compute efficiency and energy constraints. Zuckerberg stated that the company aims to improve compute cost-efficiency by 10 times in the coming year to support broader availability. While the service remains free for consumers, businesses are expected to cover transaction fees.
